The United States and England will face off in the qualifying round of the 2010 World Cup June 12th in Rustenburg, South Africa.
The World Cup may be months away, but excitement reached top levels today as the official drawings for grouping were made today in South Africa. There are a total of 32 teams who qualified for the Cup and they have now been broken down into 8 groups to compete for a spot in later rounds.
At the top of each grouping are the 8 seeded teams; England, South Africa, Argentina, Germany, Holland, Italy, Brazil, and Spain and today's drawing was to determine which group and position each country would be in.
The Cup will provide American soccer fans a hefty dose of drama and excitement the second day of the Cup as the United States will take on England. The US is coming off of its successful summer season in which they dealt Spain a surprising defeat. England given their grouping has high expectations this summer and were given 7/1 odds, the third lowest, to win the Cup.
