During the 2010 Winter Olympics in Whistler, no spectator parking will be allowed in the entire village. Similar restrictions will apply at Whistler Creekside, The Whistler Sliding Centre, and the Whistler Olympic Park in the Callaghan Valley.
The Alpine Sports are being held at Whistler Creekside; the Bobsleigh, Luge, and Skeleton will be held at the Whistler Sliding Centre; and the Biathlon, Cross-Country Skiing, Nordic Combined, and Ski Jumping will take place in the Callaghan Valley.
Only residents and those with confirmed accommodation with parking will be able to drive on the Sea to Sky Highway from West Vancouver to Whistler between 6am and 6pm.
So how will spectators get to Whistler? They will have to get the bus. The choice is to get a commercial coach such as The Greyhound or take advantage of the Olympic Bus Network.
Separate Olympic buses will be going to the three Olympic venues around Whistler and also to Cypress Mountain in North Vancouver. Tickets for the buses to the venues will be available in a phased release. Visitors can buy a ticket online at departurehubs.clickandpark.com .
Tickets become available for buses to Creekside on December 4th, for buses to the Sliding Centre on December 7th, and for buses to the Callaghan Valley on December 9th. The cost of a ticket is $28 until January 11th, when the price rises to $50.
Tickets for the bus to see the Snowboarding and Freestyle Skiing on Cypress Mountain will cost $14 from December 11th when they are first available, but rise to $25 on January 11th.
Buses depart at regular intervals and the tickets will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
