According to a recent report from Market Share, Windows 7 has topped the 5 percent daily usage mark in just one month, while holding steady at 4 percent for the entire month of November.
The report shows a consistent growth of usage share for Windows 7 from the end of October to the end of November. The report also shows that daily usage shares for Windows 7 has topped 5 percent twice in November.
This is good news for Microsoft, as Windows 7 is achieving market share values that took Vista months or years to achieve, making it a great step forward for Microsoft's Windows team.
The report also discloses fluctuations in the market share of other operating systems; Windows XP has lost 1.43 percent of its market share; while Vista and all versions of Mac OS X have lost .28 and .15 percent respectively. These values show that most Windows 7 users have either upgraded from XP or bought new Windows 7 PCs to replace their old XP boxes.
Despite the losses, XP still remains the most used version of Windows with approximately 69 percent of the total operating system market share using the OS, followed by Vista with 18.6 percent, and Windows 7 with about 4 percent.
Windows, in total, still has more than 90 percent (92.5 percent) market share.
