Alec Baldwin threatens to quit acting in 2012

By Oliver VanDervoort     Dec 1, 2009 in Entertainment
Longtime television and movie actor Alec Baldwin has told Men's Journal that when his current '30 Rock' contract ends in 2012, he's going to retire from acting.
According to the Huffington Post, Baldwin told Men's Journal:
"I don't have any interest in acting anymore. Movies are a part of my past. It's been 30 years. I'm not young, but I have time to do something else."
The 51-year-old actor has become a large part of the huge hit that is 30 Rock, also starring Tracy Morgan and Tina Fey. He is also starring in the Christmas release comedy alongside Meryl Streep 'It's Complicated" and is set to host the 2010 Oscars along with another veteran actor, Steve Martin.
Baldwin was actually nominated for an Oscar for his role in the 2003 film 'The Cooler', but says he avoids watching his own films and told Men's Journal, "I consider my entire movie career a complete failure. The goal of movie making is to star in a film where your performance drives the film, and the film is either a soaring critical or commercial success, and I never had that."
Baldwin has hinted that life after acting might include a run for public office or getting remarried to a very rich woman, so he "could sit around and read books all day."
