A high-flying aerialist was hospitalized after falling three stories during a holiday performance at one of the largest mall in Los Angeles, authorities said.
The unidentified female aerialist, 26, was performing at Beverly Center near downtown Los Angeles Saturday night when she slipped while hanging upside down from a metal hoop during the show’s finale, said Ray Pierce of Hollywood Aerial Arts.
The show, “Hunky Santa and the Candy Cane Girls,” was part of the holiday season kick-off events at the center. Pierce said she fell into a video projection cube three stories below where she hanging from the hoop, and injured her wrist and pelvis.
It was reported that she was not wearing a harness, nor was there a net to break her fall. One witness estimated that the performer fell about 40-feet from the third story level to the ground floor.
