By Michael Bearak     Nov 29, 2009 in Politics
White House party crashers are getting interest from a number of different areas. Not only are they willing to sell their experience, the Secret Service says they might be facing charges as well.
In what might be one of the more embarrassing mistakes in recent history for the Secret Service last Tuesday's state dinner say a couple crash the party. Overnight Michaele and Tareq Sahali have gained publicity and fame because of their stunt. Now according to Fox News they want to cash in on their experience.
They canceled a scheduled appearance with CNN's Larry King on Monday. It was reported in the Fox News article that the Associated Press is reporting that representatives for the couple have been shopping the story and encouraging groups to prepare bids. Supposedly they are looking for a mid-six figure payday for their story.
In another twist to the story, Michaele is trying to earn a spot on Bravo's growing "The Real Housewives of..." series. The wife probably is figuring that an appearance at a state dinner, invited or not, would only help to secure her a spot on the upcoming, "The Real Housewives of DC."
The couple was photographed in the receiving line, as well as posting their own pictures on Michaele's Facebook page of her with Vice President Biden, Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, and numerous other high ranking individuals.
While the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has called for an investigation of the Secret Service's practices, the Secret Service is reportedly doing some additional work of their own. Kevin Jess of Digital Journal reports that the Secret Service are conducting their own criminal investigation and charges may follow.
Other reports have been floating around since early Wednesday morning they Michaele Sahali's Facebook page gained National attention that the couple of a fixture amongst the DC socialites. Furthermore, Tareq Sahali co-founder of the Land Rover America's Polo Cup. In June 2010 the U.S. will host India in the America's Polo Cup and the Sahali's may have used the state dinner honoring Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh as a chance to gain additional publicity for the polo competition next year. Which was evidence in Michaele's Facebook posting, " was honored to be invited to attend the First State Dinner hosted by President Obama & the First Lady to honor India. In June 2010, the America's Polo Cup will be between INDIA & the UNITED STATES. Please join me in this cultural celebration of politics, diplomacy, fashion, sports, entertainment & family fun."
