CNN is just reporting Tiger Woods has been injured in an auto accident in Florida. The injuries are reported as serious.
According to news reports Woods automobile hit a fire hydrant and a tree. He has been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Woods has been a key figure in the world of golf. Since Woods is Known for his multicultural heritage as well as his golf prowess, the news about this accident is sure to receive world attention as he has been a popular figure in the world of sports in many countries.. Canadian news as well as American media outlets have been busy on the story. The chief source of stories has been the Orlando Sentinel quoted by Canadian sources as describing 33-year-old Woods having pulled out of his driveway in his Escalade at which time his car struck a fire hydrant and a tree. The accident occurred at 2:25 a.m. Friday.
At this time there are no updates on the extent of Wood's injuries. The Highway Patrol in Florida is reported to be investigating the accident. Charges were pending, according to media reports.
The incident has come just before the December 1st match scheduled at the Chevron World Challenge. During the past year Woods has won the title four times as observed on Wood's official site.
The Orlando Sentinel quoted the Florida Highway Patrol as saying the airbags in Woods' Cadillac Escalade did not deploy. The vehicle speed was under 33 mph., which means it was traveling under 33 mph. The Sentinel went on to report the Orange County Fire Rescue receivied the incident call for aid at 2:28 a.m. when Woods was taken from his Windermere neighborhood to the hospital ambulance.
