Fans of Showtime's hit series Californication can now purchase the book penned by the show's promiscuous protagonist, Hank Moody. Moody is played by David Duchovny of X-Files fame.
In Californication, Duchovny plays Hank Moody, a transplanted New York writer living with his teenage daughter in Los Angeles who has an insatiable appetite for women and an equally large penchant for trouble.
His book, titled God Hates Us All, with its simple black cover and provocative title, has been a part of the series since the first episode. Until now, viewers have never had much information about what the book is about, yet alone had the chance to read it for themselves.
The 208-page novel, described as a "wry literary masterpiece" by Simon & Schuster is a unique coming-of-age story told by an "accidental" drug dealer living in New York, who learns life lessons through several adventures, starting with his move to the famous Chelsea Hotel. The tone is unmistakably Moody: wry, erotic, and shockingly intimate.
The online preview includes the first four chapters, plus Hank's acknowledgments, where he thanks his agent, Charlie Runkle, and the staff of a deli restaurant, but curiously, makes no mention of his wife Karen.
God Hates Us All can be purchased online or in store from several major retailers.
