The former CNN host of "Lou Dobbs Tonight," Lou Dobbs, may run for the Presidency in 2012. After talking to a radio talk show host, Dobbs insinuated that it is quite a possibility.
After being released from CNN, Lou Dobbs has been making dozens of television and radio interviews across the United States. On Monday, Dobbs sat down with a WTOP interviewer and as the interviewer was jokingly saying a possible White House bid by Dobbs was “crazy”, Dobbs wasn’t laughing and asked, “What’s so crazy about that?” according to CNN.
“Well, I'll tell you this much: it's one of the discussions that we're having. For the first time, I'm actually listening to some people about politics." Dobbs has also talked with former Senator and 2008 Republican Presidential candidate Fred Thompson that he was eyeing a possible run on his radio show.
“I just don't even know even what to tell you in terms of where I'm leaning, because right now I'm fortunate to have just a number of wonderful options."
CBS News reports that Dobbs’ spokesperson, Robert Dillenschneider, told the Washington Post that he was considering 30 different opportunities. Dillenschneider said that since Dobbs left CNN his phone has not stopped ringing but he iterated that it hasn’t just been business but politicians from the right, center, independent and some who advise him to run for the New Jersey Senate seat, “that might morph into something larger. It's just incredible what's happened."
In 2008, Dobbs said to the Wall Street Journal that he doesn’t have the nature or personality to be a politician but concluded, “I cannot say never.”
Dobbs has a strong critical figure on illegal immigration and has been scorned by many in the media for his views such as New Democratic Network President Simon Rosenberg who called for his firing over the summer.
