On Nov. 29, some classic Scottish films will be shown free at Edinburgh’s Filmhouse to celebrate St Andrew's Day. Among the films is The Flying Scotsman.
Free screenings include the 1945 cinematic classic "I Know Where I’m Going!", British period drama "Mrs Brown" starring Judi Dench and Billy Connolly, and the inspirational tale of legendary Scottish cyclist Graeme Obree, "The Flying Scotsman".
There will also be opportunity to see a collection of short, cinematic gems (dating back to 1928), released from the Scottish Screen Archive, and a short animation of Tam O’Shanter, created by children from Kaimes School in Edinburgh.
Full programme and information about free tickets, restricted to four per person, is available at the Filmhouse website.
Minister for Culture, Mike Russell, quoted by the Scotsman, said:
St Andrew's Day is a day to celebrate all that is great about Scotland – our culture, our heritage, our innovations and our people. These classic and inspirational films which portray fictional and true-life stories, truly capture the essence of all that is great about Scotland.
