The Presidential aspirant and president of the Nacionalista Party (NP) Manny Villar has announced that boxing icon Manny Pacquiao is joining the party as its official candidate for congressman of Sarangani province in the 2010 national elections
WBO welterweight champion, Manny Pacquiao is determined to try his hand in politics side by side with his lucrative and booming boxing career.
Presidential aspirant and former Senate President Manny Villar announced Saturday that Pacquiao is joining his Nacionalista Party as its official candidate for congressman of Sarangani province where the Pacquiao's have set up residence. Jinkee, Pacquiao's lovely wife and relatives are from Sarangani.
Upon return to his home country, after demolishing Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto, the Filipino boxing icon has reiterated his desire to enter politics saying he can best serve his constituents as an elected official.
Pacquiao tried his hands in politics initially when fought a lady congresswoman from General Santos City during the last election almost three years ago. He lost miserably as he did not get the support of his fans who were against his mixing politics with boxing.
The Filipino boxing superstar is up against a member of a powerful political family in Sarangani who has ruled the province for many years.

oin NP and run for Congress during the dinner hosted by Solar Sports for the newly crowned WBO welterweight champion at the Manila Hotel last Friday.
Pacquiao however has not formally announced his decision to join the Nacionalista Party of former Senate President Manny Villar.
The new WBO welterweight champion was reported to have made more than $25 million from his November 14 fight with Puerto Rican boxing icon Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pacquiao is being sought by the undefeated American boxing icon Floyd Mayweather for a mega fight early next year. Negotiations for the upcoming fight by promoters of the two great boxes are underway.
