This just in from a press release sent to Digital Journal from the producers of HBO -- the Manny Pacquiao-Miguel Cotto match generated 1.25 million pay-per-view buys.
The super mega welter weight title fight last Saturday was also the most lucrative one-night event for HBO this year.
This makes Pacquiao-Cotto the highest grossing PPV event of 2009, generating $70 million in pay-per-view revenue alone.
To compare, Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s September victory over Juan Manuel Marquez created 1 million PPV buys.
The fight that took place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas was sold out and promoted by Top Rank Promotions.
Pacquiao vs. Cotto will be replayed this Saturday, Nov. 21 at 10:00 p.m. ET/ PT on HBO. The 12-round TKO triumph by Pacquiao marked his seventh world title in as many different weight classes.
Other HBO playdates of Pacquiao vs Cotto: Nov. 22 (10:00 a.m.) and 23 (11:40 p.m.)
HBO2 playdates: Nov. 22 (2:30 p.m.) and 24 (11:55 p.m.)
