Susan Boyle, who became famous overnight after her appearance on Britain's Got Talent, has broken the record for CD pre-orders on Amazon. The album will see its release on Monday in the UK and is entitled "I Dreamed a Dream."
Susan Boyle received worldwide recognition after she sung the album's title track on the talent show and eventually finished second in the TV show.
Amazon have said that Susan Boyle's debut album has sold more in advance orders than any other CD since the site started 14 year ago.
Work on the album started in July and Susan Boyle was given the chance to work with the producer Steve Mac. Songs on the album include a version of the Madonna song "You'll See" and a cover of The Rolling Stones' "Wild Horses", which is also the first single.
Boyle returns to TV screens this weekend as she is set for an appearance on the X Factor ahead of the album's official release.
A statement from Amazon, which was published on The Telegraph website, said:
"Just eight months ago, no one was aware of the talents of Susan Boyle. Now, she has generated more Amazon pre-order CD sales globally than any other artist.
"That is an incredible achievement and is testament to the fact that she has captured the hearts of people all over Britain, America and the rest of the world.”
Commenting on the recording of the album Susan Boyle said on her website that:
"I have now finished recording my album which is called 'I Dreamed A Dream', it has been such a wonderful journey. The album is, in many ways, autobiographical. Some of the songs I chose because they had been favourites that I have sung for many years, some of them are more unusual ones which have really come to mean something to me. I do hope that you enjoy it".
