Live like a rodent at the French 'hamster hotel'

If you've ever had the urge to spend a night or two as a hamster, you need to visit Nantes, France. For around $150 a night, you can do everything a hamster does, from spinning on a wheel to eating the animal's food to sleeping on a pile of hay. Niche hotel are all the rage, from the infamous ice hotel in Quebec to "capsule hotels" in Japan where you sleep in a coffin-line hole. But Nantes, France, might be trumping them all -- Frederic Tabary and Yann Falquerho run what they are calling "hamster villa," where customers can become hamsters. Almost literally. For 99 euros ($148.10) a night, visitors can dress up in a hamster outfit, run on a giant wheel and catch a few Zs on on hay stacks. Maud and Sebastien told Reuters they revelled in the chance to visit this strange hotel. "To become a hamster, eat seeds, change our way of life...come out of our daily routine." So why recreate the hamster experience, out of all animals? Owner Yann Falquerho told Reuters, "The Hamster in the world of children is that little cuddly animal. Often, the adults who come here have wanted or did have hamsters when they were small."
