In Almancil, Portugal, a Romanian man became trapped in a window during an alleged burglary attempt. The man was literally caught with his pants down.
An unnamed 22-year-old Romanian man "apparently tried to break into a supermarket through a small window" reports ksdk.com.
The incident occurred on Sunday in the city of Almancil in southern Portugal.
As can be seen in the video, the man was trapped in a window and at some point lost his pants while trying to free himself.
According to ksdk.com, the Romanian man "was stuck like this for 11 hours until the owner arrived for work and found the strange sight."
The man was freed by firefighters after two hours. Police handcuffed the alleged thief and took him to an awaiting police car.
When I asked a Romanian friend, Otilia Iancu, about the incident, she laughed for quite some time. After regaining her composure, she told me she "knew of many Romanians going to other European countries seeking work" but she had not heard of many "being arrested, especially with their pants down."
The video indicates that the man was allowed to put his pants back on before being led out of the supermarket by police officers.
The small town of Almancil is known for its pottery and its proximity to two exclusive resorts, Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo.
