Starting Nov. 17, Microsoft will allow Xbox Live users to use Facebook, Twitter, Last.fm and Zune Video via their console. They can invite friends or tweet using Xbox Avatar.
Microsoft explains the new features:
Already Xbox LIVE is the world’s largest social network available via your TV. Versions of Facebook and Twitter have been tailor-made to work beautifully on your telly, so if you already hold an account just sign in and you’ll be instantly connected.
The T3 website stresses that currently only one service can be used at a time, but it will evolve soon.
As Virgin media reminds us, the social network features are currently only available for users aged 18 or over.
Wired tried out the service and found one major drawback: "...you’ve got to quit the game you’re playing and jump into the Twitter or Facebook program in order to make a status update."
