Floyd 'Moneyman' Mayweather says he is still the current pound-for-pound king on account of his being undefeated in his professional boxing career as the Pacquiao-Mayweather match looms in 2010
The proposed Pacquiao-Mayweather match of 2010 if indeed it does happen, will determine who is the real pound-for-pound king between these two great boxers.
The Moneyman claims that he is still the undisputed pound-for-pound king on account of his undefeated professional boxing record.
In May this year,
Yahoo news reported that Mayweather insists he is still the pound-for-pound king as he remains undefeated in his entire professional boxing career. He also claimed he is the undisputed pay-per-view king, having generated the highest pay-per-views subscription on record when he fought Oscar de la Hoya.
A comment from a reader on Yahoo article says:'Reclaim the pound-for-pound title? He's going to have to go through Manny Pacquiao first. And as good as he is, I don't think he can hang with Manny. Even Mayweather isn't THAT fast...'
Another reader says:'Pacquiao is good but Maywether is the best in the business while retired and when he returns it will be a good fight between the two but the end of the fight will be Money Mayweather '
Mayweather also claims that he is the biggest draw on pay-per-view. And it is the reason behind his demand for a bigger share of the fight purse on his impending collision with Pacquiao.
The matter of purse sharing has been a constant irritant on the on-going negotiation for a Mayweather-Pacquiao match in the early part of 2010.
Bob Arum, Pacquiao's promoter says Pacquiao should now get the bigger share of the purse because he is now the biggest draw in boxing on account of his victory over Migle Cotto last Saturday.
On the other hand, the 'Moneyman' claims he is the undisputed pound-for-pound king as he remains undefeated and at the same time he claims to be the biggest draw in pay-per-view subscription in boxing history.
These issues and claims by the the Mayweather and Pacquiao camps on who is the pound-for-pound and pay-per-view king, will most likely influence the outcome of the on-going negotiations by the promoters for the much anticipated fight of 2010.
