The historic boxing fight between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas left at least 10 boxing fans dead in the Philippines. They allegedly died from heart attacks after watching the fight on television.
At least 10 Filipino boxing fans died in different parts of the country while watching their favorite boxing idol Manny Pacquiao fight on television Saturday night (Sunday in Maniila).
TV Patrol World reported on its prime time evening newscast that two people died in Cebu city, two in Manila, three in Butuan city, one in Batangas and three others in different parts of the country.
The newscast reported that the fatalities died of heart attack while watching their favorite boxing idol Manny Pacquiao battle Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto Saturday evening in Las Vegas Nevada.
Millions of Pacquiao boxing fans all over the country were glued to their television sets Saturday night when Pacquiao demolished Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico.
A number of deaths were also reported during the Pacquiao-de la Hoya match and Pacquiao's last fight with Ricky Hatton of England last year. This year's number of deaths were reported to be the biggest since Pacquiao became a household name in boxing.
In Davao del Sur, a councilman and a retired police officer died while watching the historic fight of Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto.

Nine people including a pregnant mother and her unborn child died on Sunday during the height of the "Firepower" bout between pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao and Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto.
Pacquiao fought Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Filipino boxing icon demolished Cotto via a 12th round TKO. Referee Kenny Bayless stopped the fight 55 minutes into the 12th round to save the boxer from further punishment that could endanger his life.
The historic fight was witnessed by millions of boxing fans around the world. All seats in the MGM Grand Garden Arena were taken. All tickets were sold days before the fight.
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton predicted a win by Pacquiao during her visit to Manila during the weekend on her way to Singapore to join US president Barack Obama in a meeting with ASEAN heads of state. Clinton was joined by politicians and entertainment celebrities in predicting the outcome of the historic fight between Pacquiao and Cotto.
Pacquiao is reported to have made arrangements for a Thanksgiving mass immediately after winning the fight to be joined by his team led by trainer Freddie Roach and close friends and family members.
