The Indianapolis Colts came back to beat the New England Patriots 35 to 34 in the last 13 seconds of the game. The game had a strange ending that was baffling to both players and announcers.
The New England Patriots dominated the Indianapolis Colts for most of the game. Tom Brady threw a couple of touchdown passes to Randy Moss and the Patriots had a 10 point lead with about 4 minutes to play. The Colts scored a touchdown and the Patriots had possession of the football with just over two minutes left in the game. With about about 1:43 left, fourth down and the ball on the Patriots 28 yard line, Patriots head coach Bill Bellichick ordered his team to go for the first down. The team didn't make the first down. The Colts took over and scored the game winning touchdown with 13 seconds remaining.
The call by Bellichick was a total surprise. The NBC announcers including former Colts coach Tony Dungy said, "at that point in the game, you've got to punt the ball". The Colts remain unbeaten this season at 9-0. They have now won 18 regular season games. The Colts have beaten the Patriots 5 of the last 6 times they've played.
