Is he a criminal or one of the world's richest men? Joaquin Guzman Loera is listed as number 41 on Forbes list of the world's most powerful people. He's also a drug lord and Mexico's most-wanted man.
Forbes reports that Mexico's most-wanted man, fondly referred to by the Mexican people as "El Chapo or Shorty heads up the Sinatoa cartel, just about the biggest supplier of Cocaine to the U.S. His net worth is said to be $1 billion, all of it from drug trafficking. This self-made billionaire is a fugitive believed to be hiding in the mountains of northern Mexico, close to the U.S. border.
Guzman's position as the 41st most powerful person in the world puts him ahead of presidents like Russia's Medvedev, France's Sarkozy and Venezuela's Chavez. Forbes, in including him in its list said:
"This ranking is intended to be the beginning of a conversation, not the final word. Do despicable criminals like billionaire Mexican drug lord Joaquin Guzman.. belong on this list at all?"
