An aspiring actor in Los Angeles decided to make the paparazzi his best friends for one night to celebrate his 27th birthday and make a big news splash to help launch his acting career.
It’s no secret that for a long time the in-their-face actions of the paparazzi, who doggedly dog celebrities have been a cause of consternation as well as personal safety for many well-known personalities.
It got so bad in Los Angeles last year that a
local councilman tried to pass a law restraining the paparazzi. The idea was immediately shot down by residents, who said the police had far better things to do with their time than protect movie stars from stalking cameras -- a price they pay that goes along with fame.
On the practical side, the police chief said the law was a non-starter and impossible to enforce, causing the immediate demise of the councilman’s motion.
While the paparazzi might be a throne-in-the-face of many celebrities, for aspiring actor Noel Strane, using the paparazzi to his advantage was the perfect way to celebrate his 27th birthday.
Strane hired a cadre of paparazzi to follow him on his birthday to help advance his modeling and acting career.
It’s too soon to tell if it worked, but it was reported by the
Los Angeles Times that his appearance at a Hollywood nightclub that the “photo-snapping entourage managed to turn more than a few heads.”
"If you're going to spend your money, why not spend it on something that's going to be a lasting memory, something that brings a smile to your face?" Strane said. "Not only tonight, but for weeks to come, months to come. You're definitely going to remember this night!"
If Strane becomes a success, only time will tell if he, like so many celebrities who are prey for the paparazzi, comes to regret his decision.
