Former WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico acknowledged Manny Pacquiao's boxing superiority after Saturday night's fight. Cotto said Pacquiao is one of the best boxers he has ever fought.
Cotto lost Saturday night to Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao via a 12th round TKO. The Puerto Rican boxer was knocked down in the third and fourth rounds of their "Firepower" match in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Referee Kenney Bayless stopped the fight less than a minute into the final round.
Pacquiao dominated the fight from the second all the way to the last round. In the 11th round, he thought the referee would stop the fight as blood flowed from Cotto's face.
"I tried my best to knock him out," Pacquiao said."I thought in 11th round they would stop the fight. I am surprised he continued to fight."
After the fight, the Filipino boxer said , '"Our strategy for the fight was not to hurry, take our time, because we knew his strategy was that he was going to counter."
After the fight, Cotto went to Pacquiao's corner while he was kneeling in prayer, thanking God for his victory. Cotto congratulated him for winning the fight before being taken to hospital for a swollen and bloodied face.
"My health comes first. I just want to make sure I'm fine, but I feel great. I'm swollen but that's all," Cotto said.
