On Nov. 10 during a surprise appearance at
a concert by The Joe Perry Project in NYC, Aerosmith front-man Steven Tyler
announced he has no intentions of leaving the band.
Over the last few weeks, Boston's finest rock and roll band have been plagued by many rumours that front-man Tyler had left the band.
Often these types of innuendo are due to mistaken reporting or misinformed bloggers, but in this puzzling case the confusion was created by members of the aging super group. First was guitarist Brad Whitford in an interview with the UK-based magazine Classic Rock.
Then, Tyler went on the record in the same article claiming he was going to create a new "brand Tyler" to
market some new original material.
Then in an exclusive interview with
The Las Vegas Sun, Joe Perry announced Tyler had quit the group.
Today,
NME reports Tyler appeared on stage halfway through Perry's set at NYC's Filmore last night to speak to the audience.
"I just want New York to know I am not leaving Aerosmith," Tyler said. He then turned to Perry and said, "And Joe Perry, you are a man of many colours but I, mother f***er, am the rainbow!"
The band then launched into their 1975 signature song Walk This Way.
Tyler ended the song with his arm around a fairly shocked Joe Perry.
