Former Miss California Carrie Prejean, who somehow always manages to spark controversy, has hit the headlines once again. She says the much-publicized sex video was the worst mistake of her life.
In a
recent interview, the beauty queen confirmed she made a sex tape as a teenager. It was a "gift" for a boyfriend in a long-distance relationship.
Prejean is a well-known model and no stranger to controversy.
She grabbed the title of Miss California in December 2008.
Prejean sparked controversy during the Miss USA pageant when she expressed her opposition to same sex marriage.
In early May the existence of
topless and semi-nude photos of her became public knowledge.
Finally, on June 10, she was dethroned when contest organizers accused her of breach of contract and alleged she was unable to fulfill her duties. Prejean denied all the charges levied against her and said her contract was really terminated due to her religious beliefs.
In response in early September, Prejean filed a lawsuit against organizers. She sued pageant officials for libel, slander and religious discrimination, accusing them of telling her to stop mentioning God even before her controversial remarks about same sex marriage. She claimed she was entitled to $1 million.
Then the sex tape appeared.
In
The New York Daily News Neil Nagraj wrote, "A legal standoff between Carrie Prejean and Miss California USA officials reportedly ended when a Pageant lawyer played his trump card: a sex tape..."
After the sex tapes emerged, Prejean reached a settlement with the organizers who paid her approximately $100,000.
