White House Communications Director Anita Dunn has decided to resign her post early next month and the Deputy Director, Dan Pfeiffer, will take her position.
Two White House officials have verified that White House Communications Director Anita Dunn will officially resign her duties as the Director in early December, according to
CNN. Her Deputy Director, Dan Pfeiffer, will take over duties from Dunn.
As
Politico reports, Dunn first took the position on an interim basis after President Barack Obama’s first pick, Ellen Moran, took a position in the Commerce Department.
Dunn has come under controversial scrutiny over the last couple of months.
Digital Journal reported that Dunn heavily criticized
Fox News on a Sunday talk show on
CNN, “The reality of it is that Fox News often operates almost as either the research arm or the communications arm of the Republican Party.”
Recently she described former Chinese leader Mao Zedong, reports
The Hill, as one of her favorite political philosophers, however, she then retracted her statement by saying that it was meant to be ironic.
“The third lesson and tip actually comes from two of my favorite political philosophers: Mao Tse-tung and Mother Theresa -- not often coupled with each other, but the two people I turn to most to basically deliver a simple point which is 'you're going to make choices; you're going to challenge; you're going to say why not; you're going to figure out how to do things that have never been done before."
The long-time Democratic political consultant’s career dates back all the way to the Jimmy Carter administration.
