Tea Party Express Continues Trip Across the US

The Tea Party Express II, a national bus tour aimed at organizing individuals against excessive government spending, is making its latest stops today in Augusta, GA; Brunswick, GA; and Beaufort, SC.

The Tea Party Express II: Countdown to Judgment Day, is quickly drawing to a close by wrapping up a tour of 40 cities on November 12. This round of the nationwide bus tour began in San Diego, CA and will complete the tour with a final stop in Orlando, FL on Thursday. The response to the first bus tour of the Tea Party Express, which visited mostly major metropolitan areas received so much attention that the event organizers quickly decided to schedule a second cross-country tour to focus on smaller cities throughout the U.S. The goal of the Tea Party Express II is to encourage individuals to speak out about their dissatisfaction with government policies and growth. As stated on the website TeaPartyExpress.org, their mission is to “…stand up and stop the bailouts, cap and trade, out-of-control spending, government-run healthcare, and higher taxes! We’re back and determined to take our country back!” Event organizers emphasize that the meetings are intended to be rallies, not protests and most of the scheduled stops have been well attended with little unrest. This stands in direct contrast to the turmoil and shouting matches that occurred during the town hall meetings at which congressional representatives discussed public healthcare reform.
