After decades of being one of the most notorious lead singers in rock n' roll history, Joe Perry confirms that Aerosmith front-man Steven Tyler has left the band.
During a concert this past August in Sturgis, S.D., Steven Tyler fell from the stage and broke his shoulder causing rumors to fly over the reasoning behind Tyler's cancellation of certain shows, but nothing was proven or confirmed by any of the band members until late last week
Comments made by Joe Perry, the lead guitarist of Aerosmith, in an interview by the Las Vegas Sun, confirmed the possibly definitely separation of Tyler and the rest of the band.
“Steven quit, as far as I can tell,” said Perry. “I don’t know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don’t know for how long, indefinitely, or whatever. Other than that, I don’t know.”
According to Perry, Tyler has also stopped returning phone calls from the band.
This confirmation comes shortly after an interview done by British magazine Classic Rock where Steven Tyler talks about his upcoming solo project.
“I don’t know what I’m doing yet, but it’s definitely going to be something Steven Tyler: working on the brand of myself – Brand Tyler," said Tyler.
That same article by Classic Rock also quotes Aerosmith guitarist, Brad Whitford as saying, “nobody could replace Steven or imitate him – he’s one of a kind. But if somebody was willing to do it and the chemistry was right, why not?”
