By KJ Mullins     Nov 8, 2009 in Entertainment
Jerry Fuchs, drummer for the Indie bands Juan MacLean and Maserati has died after falling inside a broken elevator shaft. Fuchs plunged down five stories in the elevator shaft.
The drummer tried to jump out of the broken elevator late Saturday night when his clothing was caught on something. Fuchs was at the building for a party hosted by the Uniform Project.
Detective Sweeney of the New York City Police Department said that "Fuchs jumped from the elevator when it became stuck between two floors." When I asked if Fuchs had prior knowledge that the elevator was broken Sweeney said that is not known. The police have ruled the incident an accident.
Jerry Fuchs, 34, had been on a tour with the band in Canada during October.
The band's next album, Passages is set to be released in 2010.
The authorities do not suspect foul play.
