The Mexican celebration of Day of the Dead came to a conclusion on Sunday with music and dance at the Harborfront Center in Toronto.
On Saturday,
Digital Journal covered the first day of festivities of the Day of the Dead at the Harborfront Center in Toronto. On Sunday, the Day of the Dead came to a conclusion with a lot more displays, vendors, shows and foods.
The Day of Dead is an annual tradition that celebrates the lives of the dead and remembers each and every one of their loved ones by sharing their stories with others and putting on festive events such as the ones on Saturday and Sunday.
As attendance grew, much larger than Saturday’s event, more displays were conducted such as one design that was filled with candles, skulls, photos of the deceased and different kinds of food.
Thousands were in attendance on Sunday for Mexican cuisine, a music show performed by Mariachis and a dancing event by performers in colorful costumes and dances inspired by various religions, which was presented by the Mexican Folkloric Dance Company and the Mexican Canadian Association.

On the second floor of the center was a cooking demonstration that taught those in attendance how to cook specific Mexican cuisine. The announcer also provided a little bit of the history of the cuisine and of the Mexican Canadian Association.

Day of the Dead, as one attendee told
Digital Journal, is much more than a celebration of the dead but “a celebration of all the goodness in life.” He further added that next year will be much more exciting as more Torontonians discover the essence of this ancient event.
