Both Paul Williams and Chris Arreola step back into the ring on December 5th to fight at the Boardwalk Hall Ballroom in Atlantic City.
According to a press release by Goosen Tutor Promotions December 5th will mark the return of multi weight division fast rising star Paul the "Punisher" Williams and top heavyweight contender Chris the "Nightmare" Arreola at the famous Boardwalk Hall Ballroom in Atlantic City.
Paul Williams (37-1, 27 KO) is arguably the most feared and avoided fighter in the sport of boxing. Many top ranked fighters and champions from 147 to 160 seem to be avoiding a fight with Wiliams mostly due to his vast height and reach advantage and his awkward high volume punching fighting style.
Williams has big impressive wins over Antonio Margarito where he had captured the welterweight title and previous top ranked pound for pound veteran Ronald "Winky" Wright on his resume.
Because Williams stand at a lean slender build at 6' 2" he can go up and down in weight from 147 to 160 and take on anyone who is willing to fight him.
Originally Willams was slated to fight WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik on the same date but Pavlik had pulled out twice for their match citing an injury to his hand.
“Pavlik had separation anxiety I guess,” said Williams. “He didn’t want his belts taken away from him. I’ll get them eventually.
Williams will however be fighting WBC Super Welterweight Champion Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez (44-1-2, 24 KO) instead.
“I salute Sergio Martinez for carrying himself like the champion he is to get in the ring with me and enable me to keep the December 5th date so that I can show my fans in Atlantic City what “The Punisher” is all about up close and personal. Unfortunately for Martinez, he is going to absorb the punishment I planned for Pavlik.” -Williams.
Heavyweight contender Cristobal “The Nightmare” Arreola will open HBO’s broadcast at 10pm ET/7pm PT. Arreola is stepping into the ring for the first time since his big hearted performance against WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko last September which ended in a 10th round TKO loss when Arreola's corner threw in the towel.
Tickets for the Williams-Martinez bout are priced at $300, $200, $100 and $50 and can be purchased starting Saturday at the Boardwalk Hall box office, by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 736-1420 or online at www.Ticketmaster.com.
