In response to persistent reports and predictions that Manny Pacquiao will finish him in the early rounds of their 'Firepower' match, Cotto says Pacquiao picked the wrong moment and the wrong fighter.
WBO Welterweight Champion Miguel Cotto says Manny Pacquiao picked the wrong moment and the wrong fighter in the upcoming 'Firepower' match in Las Vegas.
The Puerto Rican boxing icon made the comment in response to the persistent predictions that Pacquiao will finish him in the early rounds of their 'Firepower' match.
In a conference call from his training camp in Las Vegas, Cotto said"I am prepared for anything Manny can bring to this fight. He has a lot of things besides his speed and I am prepared for all he can show me at this time.
In response to the underdog tag that is being labeled on him by bettors, he said "I don't know anything about the betting business. 'I am just here to try to bring my best every day in the gym'
But Cotto seems to be confident that he will emerge as the winner in his November 14 date with the popular Filipino boxer. The Puerto Rican boxing idol has repeatedly cited his being a natural welterweight as his main advantage over Pacquiao. '"Manny comes from a lower weight division and if he thinks he is going to have the same power as Miguel Cotto, he is thinking pretty wrong," the Puerto Rican said. If he thinks he is going to win against Miguel Cotto, he is pretty wrong, he added.
Despite of the underdog tag and the countless predictions that Manny Pacquiao will finish him in the early rounds, Cotto is confident that he will retain his WBO welterweight belt on November 14.
Pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines will collide with Miguel Cotto in their 'Firepower' match on November 14 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
At stake is Miguel Cotto's WBO welterweight crown. The match will be shown on worldwide television and is available on pay-per-view. Top Rank promotions of Bob Arum is promoting the fight.
