Major Nadal Malik Hasan has been described as a dutiful soldier and someone who was rather quiet most of the time. Today, he allegedly killed twelve people at Fort Hood in Texas.
The Associated Press reports that Hasan served eight years in the U.S. Army as an enlisted soldier. He served in the ROTC at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia. Virginia Tech had a mass killing of 16 people a couple of years ago. Hasan received his B.A. Degree in Biochemistry in 1997. He was described as
"being mostly quiet" by Dr. Thomas Grieger, a former training director at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Faizui Khan is a former imam at a mosque in Silver Spring, Maryland where Hasan attended. Khan said, "He was a lifelong Muslim. We hardly ever got to discussing politics. Mostly we were discussing religious matters, nothing too controversial, nothing like an extremist". About six months ago law enforcement officials found out about Internet postings relating to suicide bombings that Hasan may have been involved with. Log onto www.ap.org for more on Nadal Malik Hasan
