Two criminals on a robbery spree in Seattle attempted to rob a Wendy's restaurant. When they could not gain access to the safe, they allegedly raped an employee.
In four previous incidents, managers of fast food restaurants in the Seattle area have been followed by the criminals shortly after they have closed up the restaurant. The criminals drive a vehicle with red and blue flashing lights that appears to be a police car. In previous incidents, they pulled the unsuspecting employees over, brandished guns, and handcuffed the victim. One of the criminals would then drive the victim back to the restaurant and demand to be let in.
In the most recent incident, the robbery spree escalated into an alleged sexual assault. The two men were said to have attempted to rob a Wendy's restaurant in Lakewood using the same M.O. When the female employee, who was in a car with her boyfriend, informed them that she did not have keys to the restaurant, the criminals allegedly drove her to a wooded area and raped her. Police elaborated that her boyfriend was handcuffed and in the trunk of their car during the assault.
Lakewood and Tacoma police departments are distributing the fliers to fast food workers advising them to immediately call 911 if they are being pulled and to drive to a well-lit area. Instructions continue that anyone who is pulled over should ask a dispatcher to send a fully marked police car and should only pull over if the dispatcher confirms that it is a police officer.
CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and charges filed for the persons in this case.
