A 26 year old man is suspected of torching the chapel, housing 9/11 remains. Accident took place last Saturday morning (Oct. 31). Fire was quickly extinguished.
The fire damaged only a wooden bench, non of the thousands of unidentified remains was damaged, but all mementos - pictures, flowers, notes and candles - disappeared.
According to
UPI.com, suspect, who was believed to be from out of town, was drunk in the time of the accident. As the
New York Times reports, 26 old man man turned himself into the police and was arrested on Saturday evening. His motive was unclear.
