A couple in Florida have been charged with fraud concerning a contract with NASA. The contract was worth $3.7 million. The couple face up to 20 years in prison.
A federal grand jury handed up indictments against a professor from the University of Florida and the man's wife. Charges of wire fraud, money laundering and making false statements are all part of the charges.
UPI reports that prosecutors in the case claim that salaries meant for fictitious employees were put into the bank accounts of nuclear scientist Samim Anghaie and his wife Sousan.
Mrs. Anghaie, 55, was a president of New Era Technology which is the institute that is being accused of submitting falsified research and analysis to NASA in addition of claiming non-existent employees.
In February Anghaie's office was raided by the FBI.
The couple could face up to 20 years each if convicted on the charges.
The couple were arrested on Friday.
