Actor Dennis Hopper has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and he has announced he is canceling all travel plans to focus on treatment.
The actor and director who has played some part in more than 300 projects is staying in southern California for a special round of treatment,
according to his agent Sam Maydew.
Because of the diagnosis, the actor turned director turned artist was forced to cancel his appearance at an exhibition of his artwork and photography at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne. The exhibition, called "Dennis Hopper and the New Hollywood," the show celebrates "the work and life of an extraordinary filmmaker, artist and key figure in the evolution of Americas cultural scene from the 1950s to today."
The iconic
Easy Rider star has had health problems earlier this year, being hospitalized in New York with dehydration.
Hopper has just finished shooting the second season of "Crash" the television adaptation of the award-winning
film, in which he plays music producer Ben Cendars.
