Iowa City, Iowa is home to the undefeated University of Iowa Hawkeyes football team, the Iowa Writer's Workshop and also, apparently, a zombie.
On Oct. 25, at 1:17 a.m., Iowa City police were called to Panchero's, a Mexican restaurant at 965 S. Riverside Drive, south of the University of Iowa campus.
According to a police news release, a man had been assaulted while ordering food.
Initially, the victim was punched in the eye but when the victim attempted to call police on his cell phone he was punched a second time. The second blow broke his nose.
The assailant then fled out the back door of the restaurant and the victim was transported by ambulance to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for treatment.
The attack was preceded by a bizarre verbal exchange in which the perpetrator accused the victim of being a zombie.
The police news release described the zombie hunter as a dark-complected white male with short brown hair, about 20 years old, between 6' and 6'2" tall, weighing between 200 and 230 pounds. He was wearing a brown coat and blue jeans.
Police continue to search for the attacker and a $1,000 reward has been offered for information leading to his capture.
The victim insists he is not a zombie.
