A graduate student at the Arizona State University in Tempe Arizona has reportedly committed suicide by shooting himself with a handgun during a conversation with a professor.
According to authorities, the student and the professor were having a conversation in the professors office when the shooting occurred. The office is located within the Design College at the University. The student identified only as a male, apparently pulled out the handgun, shooting himself once in the head, campus police have reported.
The shooting occurred around 11:40 a.m. in the Architecture South Building, located on the main ASU campus in Tempe, Arizona. Although the building was locked down for over an hour after the shooting, it is not believed other students or faculty were ever in any danger.
Authorities are unsure at this time what might have prompted the shooting. The names of the student and the professor are currently being withheld. No other information about the shooting is available at this time.
