An Uzbek saleswoman was found with heroin at Dubai International Airport before being sentenced to four years in prison.
The 27-year-old, who was wanted by Dubai police, was caught with 4.28 grams of heroin, according to Gulf News, and charged for an attempt to smuggle illegal drugs.
The accused claims she was not aware that the drugs were in her possession, and that she did not intend to bring them with her. She has also denied knowing that the drugs found in her luggage were heroin.
Dubai Court of First Sentence has ordered a deportation of the accused after serving her prison term. The initial verdict is subject to appeal within 15 days.
