A new TV comedy series, starring Jason Priestley, is now filming in New Minas, Nova Scotia. It is set to air in 2010, and this Digital Journalist caught some photos from the shoot.
I would have believed that two new car dealerships had sprang up overnight on Commercial Street in New Minas as I drove through the village the other night if it weren't for the big lights and white screens with tons of people milling around.
As it turns out, a new Canadian comedy, entitled Meet Phil Fitz is being filmed in the village known for being the shopping center of the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia.
Jason Priestley plays the title character, a "morally bankrupt" used car salesman, and centers around antics between him and his new colleague, who happens to be a do-gooder.
Priestley, now 40, who is best known for his portrayal of Brandon Walsh in the 1990s teen soap opera Beverly Hills 90210, said in an interview with CBC News, the new series is "a great chance to get back to Canada and flex some comedic muscles."
"The writing is sharp, edgy and so fast it leaves you gasping for air. You don't often have a chance to get paid to be morally bankrupt," said Mr. Priestley in the CBC interview.
I couldn't seem to find anyone who was able to answer some questions for me but I was able to snap a few pictures of the set.
Sheri Elwood is the writer, and also the executive producer of the new series. Meet Phil Fitz is produced by E1 Entertainment, Amaze Film and Television and Big Motion Pictures.
The series will air on Canadian specialty TV channels Movie Central and the Movie Network in 2010.
