Team Cotto, led by Joe Santiago, says Miguel Cotto is not bothered by the much publicized speed of Manny Pacquiao and predicts that Cotto will prevail over the Filipino boxer because he is younger, bigger and stronger than Pacquiao
Unfazed by predictions that Manny Pacquiao will prevail in their 'Firepower' match, Miguel Cotto continues to prepare in his Florida training camp for his date with the pound-for pound king on November 14 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Miguel Cotto's trainer Joe Santiago said that a win by the Puerto Rican boxer will silence Pacquiao's handlers and fans and elevate his ward to the title of the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.
Santiago says Cotto is younger, bigger, stronger and more determined. The pair are fighting at the catch weight of 145 pounds which is WBO welterweight champion Cotto's natural weight.
Yahoo news reports:
"A lot of people are picking Pacquiao to beat him and he is motivated by that," Santiago said. "Miguel has a little extra because the people don't think he can win this fight.
"We know he can and he knows he can but he will have to show everyone what he is capable of doing against this type of opponent. He will come out with a little more fire."
Cotto is the underdog in their 'Firepower' fight as some of the popular boxers and trainers predicting a Pacquiao victory.
Former world champion Gerry Penalosa predicts early knock down by the pound-for-pound king. Jose Luis Castillo, himself a former light weight champion and principal sparring partner of Pacquiao says Cotto is no match to Pacquiao's speed and power.
