Former United States President George W. Bush will deliver a motivational speech as a special guest speaker in Forth Worth, Texas at a seminar titled "Get Motivated! Business Seminar"
The 43rd President of the United States George W. Bush will be a special guest speaker at the “Get Motivated! Business Seminar” in Forth Worth, Texas on Monday October 26, according to
CBS News. Bush will be the sixth President to deliver a speech at the event; former Presidents Reagan, Clinton, Bush Sr., Ford and Carter all spoke at the occasion.
Other listed speakers include former Secretary of State in the Bush administration Colin Powell, Terry Bradshaw, former 2008 Presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani and others. A Bush spokesperson could not be gotten a hold of to confirm the former President’s attendance, however, Tamara Lowe, the Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Get Motivated! Seminars, said that the former Governor of Texas will discuss the challenges of the September 11, 2001 attacks and the safety of the United States. Past Presidents would usually cite their challenges in the Oval Office.
Each guest speaker is compensated for their attendance; however, most wave their remuneration or donate it to a charity of their choice. Some estimates show that the former First Lady, Laura Bush, who will attend three “Get Motivated” seminars in October and November will receive $500,000.
Tickets at the Fort Worth Convention Center Area will cost $4.95, or $19 per group, and between 10,000 and 50,000 people are expected to attend. Bush is projected to speak for 20 minutes, according to
CNN.
Some people are not thrilled with Bush’s motivational speech, such as University of Virginia’s Political Science Professor Larry Sabato who said, according to the
New York Daily News, “Maybe it can be like, 'Do what I say, not what I do. Or maybe it'll be, 'I'm the model of what you shouldn't be.”
But he added that he’s not surprised by his decision because other politicians have stooped lower before, such as Bob Dole’s endorsement of Viagra, “I don't associate dignity anymore with politicians, current or former. We are way beyond that.”
Other prominent guests include Margaret Thatcher and Mikhail Gorbachev.
