A presidential candidate once said, "It's the economy stupid". That was former President Bill Clinton. Some states may add more casinos or expand existing ones to bring in more money to help their economy..
According to the Las Vegas Review Journal, about 12 states are considering building regional casinos and maybe expanding to some they already have. Some states want to add more slot machines in casinos and to race tracks. There was a time when only two states in the United States had casino gambling and that was Nevada and New Jersey. Today, American Indian casinos are in 29 states.
Ohio has a gaming initiative on the November ballot. Massachusetts may legalize regional casinos and add slot machines to racetracks and Pennsylvania may allow casinos to add table games. In 2008, commercial casino gaming revenue took in $32.5 billion dollars. About $5.7 billion of that goes to state and local governments. Those figures are up about $13 billion dollars over the last eleven years.
