Whether or not to optionalize the boards as put forward by education minister of India, Mr Kapil Sibal, is a red-hot topic in the country now. The CBSE having optionalized the examinations in question, reputed schools debate.
"Kya Board Pariksha Vaikalpit Karni Chahiye?" (Should The Board Examinations Be Made Optional?) was the topic for debate at B D Memorial Institute on 8 October, Thursday. Enthusiasm, talent and hardcore preparations were the springs that propelled this show to success. The auditorium so decorated as to suit the confident and immovable attitude of the debaters, whether or nor to optionalize the boards is a red-hot topic in the country now. The chief guests were greeted with the traditional chandan-tika ceremony and the seven diya symbolizing knowledge were lighted. The swagatam geet was sung to welcome the guests. When they were seated, the administrator and director, Ms Usha Mehta, delivered an introduction on the topic.
There were six participants in all, three each from classes ten and eleven. Each was very good at expressing their opinions and spoke flawlessly. But, as pointed out later by Mehta Madam, they missed out on a universal opinion which would cover the problems faced by people from all walks of life. She spoke analytically about the mistakes of the participants and encouraged them to do better in future events, praising their speaking skills. Ms Meena Ghate, teacher of Hindi, recited a self-composed poem by the name of "Ham Shikshak To Yahi Chahte Hain". The winners, Snigdha Das from class ten and Shreya Das from class eleven were called on stage to collect their prizes. The event was concluded with the national anthem.
