In association with Vijnana Bharati and Bose Institute, BDMI celebrated the 150th birth anniversary of great Indian achiever in Sciences, Acharya Jagadish Chandra Bose.
Held on the morn of Oct. 8, the one-hour programme comprised of varied functions, one after another.
The programme was commenced by Ms Usha Mehta, the institution's Director and Administrator, lighting the lamp along with the hon'ble Dr K K Ganguly who was also present. A welcome address by Dr Ms Swati Basu, teacher of the sciences department, followed in which she spoke of the late scientist.
This preceded a presentation hosted by students of Standard X. The audio-visual presentation revolved around the life and works of Sir Jagadish Bose.
Then came up for the audience a short skit titled, Life Is Green. As touching and thought-provoking as its name, the three-minute skit performed by the IX-Standard students had the song penned and composed and the movements choreographed the school.
This was followed up by an address on the works of Sir Jagadish Bose by Ms Nandita Dasgupta.
A presentation, based on the life and works of the great Indian scientist, was made by the students of Standards XI and XII.
The programme was concluded with a fun quiz named Catechizing-Bose which was again based on the life and works of Sir Jagadish Bose. With six teams in participation, ranging from Standards IX and X to XI, the function demanded loud claps and laughs from the audience. Audience-participation was well-ensured by the anchors, Mr Sudip Dutta and Piyali Madam, teachers from the Sciences department.
Winners from the quiz were awarded and the consolation prizes were successively given out. The programme concluded with the rendition of the national anthem.
