North Korea fired five short-range missiles off of its east coast on Monday. This is after South Korea proposed talks with it's neighbor to the north.
South Korea's Yonhap news agency, cited an unidentified South Korean governmental official stating that North Korea had tested two short-range missiles on Monday morning and three others Monday afternoon from mobile launch pads.
Yonhap said that the missiles were surface-to-surface KN-02 rockets. The range of these rockets range up to 75 miles.
This is the first time since July that North Korea has launched missile tests. South Korea is trying to pressure North Korea into disarming.
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton told Yahoo on Monday, "Our goal remains the same. Our consultations with our partners and our allies continues unabated. It is unaffected by the behavior of North Korea."
North Korea has issued a "no-sail zone" on it's west and east coast for the October 10-20 period.
North Korea and South Korea were supposed to talk on Wednesday to discuss flooding concerns with the Imjin River.
However, according to Yahoo, Unification Ministry spokesman Chun Hae-sung said that Seoul had no plan to resume high-level dialogue with the North.
South Korea's Defense Ministry and National Intelligence Service said that they could not confirm the reports.
