A man in Winter Springs, Florida thought an intruder was entering his home early Friday morning. He shot the suspect only to discover that his fiance was the one breaking into his home.
John Tabbutt and Nancy Dinsmore, both 62, were to be married on Saturday morning at St. Stephen Catholic Church.
Fox Orlando reports:
Police Chief Kevin Brunelle said, "Right now, I haven't seen anything or given any information that there were any domestic problems at the home. In fact, I've been told they were a great couple together, and again, it appears to be a very tragic accident. As you can image, the gentleman is very distraught and he is with family members."
The couple lived together for about a year. Tabutt had thought his fiance was in the bed. Ms. Dinsmore was pronounced dead at the scene.
Mr. Tabbutt was a former executive with Siemens Westinghouse Operating Services Co.
He has not been charged with a crime.
