37 states are reporting widespread swine flu cases, as the pandemic becomes entrenched in the American ecology. The CDC said 76 children had died, 16 new deaths this week alone.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
reported on Friday that the H1N1 swine flu virus has already been responsible for the deaths of 76 children across the United States - 16 new deaths were reported this week alone. The report underscores the danger the swine flu pandemic poses to younger people and supports the government's
vaccination drive.
37 states are now reporting widespread swine flu cases, up from 27 the prior week. The infection growth is further evidence of
how fast this virus moves.
Swine flu has been attributed to more than 600 deaths in the U.S. and more than 4,500 deaths worldwide. The exact figures are unknown, as authorities have stopped keeping count.
The CDC also reported that demand for swine flu vaccinations is considerably higher than current supply. U.S. officials are expecting 200 million dosages by the end of the year, and - while every state has placed orders - there is
a sharp up-tick in demand and a need for faster delivery.
