Bloggers who write up positive reviews for products that they have been paid for can be fined if they don't disclose that information.
The FTC has updated the Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising. It's the first update since 1980. A very important change to the rules makes it a requirement for bloggers who endorse a product that they have been paid for must disclose the material connections that they share with the seller or the service.
Those who do not disclose endorsement information could take a heavy hit. The fine could be as high as $11,000 per posting.
The rules are now in effect.
