You are invited to an art party held all over the world. Nuit Blanche takes place in Paris, Berlin, Madrid, San Francisco, Bruges, Montreal... and Toronto. It runs from dusk until dawn.
Nuit Blanche is an all-night, free-access art party that attracts Torontonians from all walks of life. There is enough entertainment to keep things going from sundown Saturday October 3 into the wee hours.
For information about what to see and do, check out the official listings, Canadian Art Online or The Toronto Star, The Globe or Eye. Now Magazine provides a survival guide to coffee and pee at Nuit Blanche, drinking and getting rid of coffee being primordial functions for all-night revellers. There are so many happenings, you are best to plan your route in advance and be choosy. Not all installations will be equally polished.
For hot tips during the event, Nuit Blanche is on Twitter. You can check out CBC tweets, or go big and have your tweets projected onto the side of the AGO building as part of the Blank Slate installation.
What can revellers expect? In the Financial District, conceptual artist Iain Baxter will display his realistic board game, Monopoly with Real Money. At Yonge-Dundas Square, Jeff Koons plans to hoist a massive balloon bunny high in the sky (even though it will rain this evening in Toronto). And at Nathan Philips Square, human "ghosts" will be silhouetted against various backdrops, creating an eerie landscape.

Improvements have been made to transportation this year and there are road closures so people can leave their cars behind, a good idea when there are so many happenings at sidewalk level. All-night bus service is being offered on the Bloor line from Keele to Woodbine and the Yonge subway from St Clair West to Eglinton station. There are also additional all-night buses and the 509 streetcar will deliver party-goers to Liberty Village. Check out the transit details
The Toronto forecast tonight is for a few showers ending late this evening, followed by fog and a 30 per cent chance of precipitation with a low of 8 degrees Celsius. Bring a camera and something waterproof but don't miss it.
